Main Chamber Of New Parliament Building Completed As Leaders Inspect Progress
Nepal's new federal parliament building has completed its main House of Representatives chamber, with parliamentary leaders inspecting the facility on Sunday. The modern complex includes a 700-seat assembly hall, offices for political parties, parliamentary support facilities, and infrastructure designed to support future legislative operations.

Construction of the main meeting hall of Nepal's new Parliament building has reached a major milestone, with parliamentary leaders carrying out an on-site inspection of the facility to review its readiness and overall progress.
A team led by Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal visited the newly completed chamber and received updates on construction work, structural readiness, and supporting facilities within the parliamentary complex.
The Parliament building project was initiated after the foundation stone was laid by then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on September 18, 2019. A construction agreement worth Rs 6.92 Arba was signed shortly afterward for the development of the new federal legislature complex.
Designed as a modern parliamentary facility, the complex brings together key institutions required for federal legislative operations. The House of Representatives chamber, the National Assembly facilities, the Federal Parliament Secretariat, and offices for political parties have all been incorporated within the same area.
At the center of the complex is a dedicated entrance reserved for VVIPs, while separate access points have been arranged for employees and other visitors. The overall layout places the parliamentary secretariat and legislative chambers within close proximity to improve administrative coordination.
The House of Representatives chamber has been designed with a 700-seat capacity, allowing it to accommodate joint sessions of both houses whenever required. Of the total capacity, 400 seats are located inside the main hall, while 300 seats are available in the gallery section.
The National Assembly building also includes gallery seating, and a shared lobby capable of accommodating around 350 people has been constructed to support parliamentary activities and official events.
The complex contains office and meeting facilities for 10 political parties, along with dedicated rooms for the Prime Minister, Speaker, Chairperson of the National Assembly, chief whips, and other senior officials. Each office unit includes meeting spaces designed to support parliamentary discussions and administrative work.
Additional infrastructure within the parliamentary premises includes a library, canteen, landscaped gardens, open public spaces, press and printing facilities, security buildings, and parking capacity for approximately 700 vehicles.
The new parliamentary complex has been developed to serve as the central workplace for Nepal's federal legislature and associated institutions.
